Yard Party for Art 2023 update

As many of you already know, despite our best efforts, this past Saturday’s Yard Party for Art event was canceled due to unforeseen and dangerous weather conditions. We understand the excitement and anticipation that surrounded this event, and we share in your disappointment over its cancellation.

Our staff, volunteers, community partners, and sponsors prepared an amazing event. We were prepared to welcome everyone to an unforgettable experience when suddenly a devastating storm came out of nowhere destroying tents, decorations, and equipment, and flooding the museum’s garden and parking lot. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the course of the storm as we attempted to bring items into the building and protected the production and band equipment.

The safety and enjoyment of our attendees, participants, sponsors, and volunteers are of the utmost importance to us. As much as we wanted to bring you a day filled with creativity, community, and celebration of art, we couldn’t ignore the risks posed by the severe weather conditions that were beyond our control. After careful consideration and consultation with production partners, it was determined that the stage and production would not be able to recover that evening.

We understand that many of you invested time, energy, and resources into preparing for the Yard Party for Art, and for that, we sincerely thank you. We are actively exploring alternative options to showcase the incredible artworks and talents that were meant to be featured. Thank you to our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and ticket holders for your unwavering support, partnerships, and contributions to this event. To our ticket holders, your purchase counts as a donation to the Wiregrass Museum of Art to support our mission to bring lifelong learning to the Wiregrass through visual arts and art education.
