WMA presents a virtual conversation with Willie Cole, exhibiting artist in Nice Work if You Can Get It. Listen to Cole speak about the scope of his work and the connections he makes to his life and the lives of others. Cole’s artistic practice centers on postmodernism and cultural appropriation, using household and everyday objects to decontextualize and transform them into art. Cole will discuss his current project in Italy, a collaboration with designer Rei Kawabuko for COMME DES GARÇONS. His artist talk will focus on the topic, “Artist Survival Techniques, Pre- and Post-Pandemic”. Attendees will be able to submit questions for a Q&A session.
This program is part of WMA’s ongoing Visiting Artist Series, which will focus on themes and inspirations from the museum’s collections-based exhibitions throughout 2021.
