We invite you to join artist Sydney Foster for an artist talk on Zoom. Sydney will explore her residency at the Wiregrass Museum of Art. She will share details about her time spent working in Dothan and the impact the experience has had on her craft and the future of her career. A 15-minute Q&A will follow the 30-minute talk. The talk is free but registration is required.
Sydney A. Foster was born in Montgomery, Alabama and lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia. At 21, Foster was hand selected as staff photographer for the Alabama Governor’s Office. Foster is also a United States veteran serving in the Air National Guard. Her work revolves around vibrancy, southern black culture, feminism, and the rawness of all people, places and things. Sydney’s work is heavily influenced by social equality, African American women, and being a voice of reason to those who too are afraid to speak up and out.
Sydney’s exhibition ‘Sydney A. Foster: Reflections and Realities’ is on view now through March 26, 2022.
This exhibition is generously supported by grants from the Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation, and the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
