Dear Friends and Members,
After wrapping up a busy Youth Art Month – with 173 works of art from students at 41 schools and organizations in 5 counties – we’re turning our attention to spring and summer. Registration is live for classes and camps like Mixed Media Explorations and Stop Motion Animation; and scholarships are available for all camps! We’ll also continue our partnerships with youth groups throughout the Wiregrass for outreach opportunities during the summer.
New exhibitions opening this month include Kudzu Soliloquy and WATER GROUND: River Raft Quilts by Coulter Fussell. Both exhibitions explore the intersections of fine art and contemporary craft, bringing together a talented group of artists from across the Southeast. Also on display this quarter is Remnant by artist Kole Nichols, and the annual Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama.
Demand continues to rise for the unique experiences WMA offers in the Wiregrass. Our ability to provide innovative experiences to our community is because of your support as a member. This May, we thank you for your commitment to the museum and our mission with a special, members only event, One Night Only. Membership at WMA matters – come celebrate our 35th anniversary with us!
We’d also like to share our newest Strategic Plan with you, and news as we move forward on goals set for the next three years. See below for access to the plan, and to sign up for our email updates. I hope to see you at the museum soon, and often!
All the best,
Dana-Marie Lemmer
Executive Director
