January 22 - March 26, 2016
Perspectives presents the unique worldview of photographers Sandy Spengler, Dave Wehrly, and George Mathison. All local artists, Spengler, Wehrly, and Mathison are members of SEAPAC: the Southeast Alabama Photography & Adventure Club, a photography club open to the public and dedicated to education of the art-form. The artists of Perspectives practice individually in color, black, and white chemical darkroom, as well as digital darkroom, digital imaging, and printing.
An exploration of Perspectives reveals a multitude of color, focus, and study. The approachability of the photographs on the surface provides the viewer with a sense of comfort, allowing them to delve deeper into the meaning behind the work. Perspectives variety of subject matter is, possibly, its greatest strength. Spengler, Wehrly, and Mathison transform misty creeks, statues, jewelry, rural homes, and dewy leaves into a study of time, place, and identity. Perspectives will be on view in WMA’s Coleman Gallery from Friday, January 22nd through Saturday, March 26th, 2015.
