“Sitting at a table and sharing food with family and/or friends has always been important to me. Having the body of a bowl separate from the foot forces people to interact at the table. You cannot put the bowl down until it has passed from hand to hand, making your table guests engage with one another, even in this small way. By function, my bowls are designed to bring intimacy to the table by connecting with each other at the beginning of the meal and encourage warm conversation as a result.
The form represents our ever-changing world, moving parts trying to catch up and stay aligned but never quite perfect. Connecting to one another by sharing a meal together keeps us grounded and connected. There is nothing more important than family and friends.” – Susie Bowman
